Located in the Sierra de La Macarena National Natural Park, “The River of Five Colors” also known as “The Liquid Rainbow.” is one of the most amazing places and a definitely a Nature Wonder of Colombia. It is a place where all of the colors of the rainbow seem to have been descended from heaven to earth, its waterfalls and rock formations offer a spectacular opportunity to enjoy this unique ecosystem.
-Take a boat onto the Guayabero river
-Swim in natural pools and waterfalls
-Get amazed by the wildlife of Sierra de La Macarena
Day 1. La Macarena – Caño Cristales
Ride a boat for 20 minutes over the Guayabero river spotting squirrel monkeys, hoatzins, Scarlet Macaws and the Orinoco Crocodile with a bit of luck. Drive a 4×4 vehicle to Cajuche Spring, to start an ecological hike to Cristalitos natural pools. We will return late in the afternoon La Macarena village for dinner and overnight in a local standard accommodation. (L,D)
Day 2. Caño Cristales
Today we will explore the other side stream of Caño Cristales known as “Brazo Pianos” with its different colors, waterfalls and natural swimming pools; Caño Escondido, Cascada de la Virgen, Pianos, Piedra Diosa de la Macarena, Cascada de los Cuarzos, Paso Mojado, Tapetes. We will return to La Macarena for dinner and overnight at a local accommodation. You will enjoy an integration cultural act including folkloric music, dance and local gastronomy with locals.
Day 3. Caño Cristales- La Macarena
We will visit Piscina Karol Cristal, los Ocos, Piscina del Turista and activities will be chosen by a local guide depending on the weather conditions and the time available. After the activity we will return back to La Macarena to continue our journey beyond.
