Short Inca Trail

2 days & 1 night

Machu Picchu is the greatest symbol of Inca civilization.
We will start our journey in Cusco and drive along the Sacred Valley passing by Chinchero, Urubamba and arriving in Ollantaytambo where the train station is located. From here we will take the train to the Incan citadel of Machu Picchu. Swim in the hot springs and rest overnight at the town of Aguas Calientes.

The 2-day Inca Trail is a fantastic option for those who don’t have the time or desire to hike the full length of the trail. With beautiful scenery, a wide variety of flora and fauna, and a visit to the Inca Trail’s most beautiful site (Winay Wayna), you get to enjoy the all the best bits of the Inca Trail condensed into a one-day walk. Covering a distance of just 10km / 6.3 miles the 2-day Inca Trail is not too challenging, which makes it perfect for families with children and those on a tight schedule.

– Enjoy the best bits of the Inca Trail condensed in a one-day walk.

Day 1

Our tour departs from Cusco and takes us along the most impressive stretch of the Inca Trail. We will visit amazing Inca sites while taking in fantastic views of the Andes mountains. Our 10 km journey begins in the Sacred Valley and goes all the way up to the Inca site of Winay Wayna before continuing on to Machu Picchu via the Inti Punku, also known as Portal of the Sun.
As we make our way to Machu Picchu we will pass through the lush and verdant cloud forest that covers the mountain and see a variety of plants, flowers and birds along the way. We may also see some larger mammals such as Viscachas (rabbit-like Chinchillas) and Spectacled Bears (very rare).
After trekking all day we will arrive at Inti Punku in the late afternoon and get our first views of Machu Picchu, spread across the mountain below. The light at this time of day is great for photos and there are very few visitors on the site.
Overnight at standard hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 2

Machu Picchu- Cusco

After a very early breakfast we will ride the very first bus up to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu to enjoy the sunrise. Our guide will lead a very interesting tour full of legends, facts and historical information about this South American landmark. This tour will also allow you time on your own to explore the citadel, and time permitting you can climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain (you must have a permit). In the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, from where you will return by bus to Cusco.
