Great Peacock Bass fishing in the Llanos

The Llanos region of Venezuela, has become well known not only for its amazing wildlife and its friendly people the "llaneros" but its superb peacock bass fishing. Osprey Expeditions takes you to some of the most pristine lakes of mountain origin with one of the legendaries fishermen of Venezuela Carlos Hermidas. He got the World Record in 2002 for Peacock Orinoco (Ciclas Orinocensis) with 6 kilos, 223 grams and works in cooperation with us providing the unique and exclusive VIP service for anglers in this region. He makes sure you have a great time from the very moment of your arrival  to the end. Accommodation is at local posadas in the surrounding villages of the Tiznados & La Coromoto reservoir lakes.

30% deposit per person is required to confirm reservations. Deposits may be paid by credit card or money order. Final payments are typically due 30 days prior to departure.

Getting there
Fly to Caracas, Venezuela. After spending your first night in a Caracas hotel, you will meet up with our representative Carlos Hermidas and get driven to Tiznados Lake for your first day fishing.

Breakfast & Lunch on board.  The menus present traditional Venezuelan cuisine, vegatarian meals are also available upon request.

Sample Outline itinerary
(Subject to revision. Detailed itineraries are prepared on confirmation of reservation)

Day 1: Fly into Caracas, Venezuela. Overnight at Hotel Avila **** in Caracas.

Day 2: Breakfast. Meet up with resort representative and car ride to Tiznados lake. Unpack and settle in before heading out for a 1/2 day fishing. Overnight at local posada.

Days 3-4 (and extra days): Full days of guided fishing with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overnight at local posada.

Day 5: 1/2 day fishing in the morning with drive back to Caracas in the afternoon. Overnight in Caracas at Hotel Avila****.

Day 6: Transfer to the airport. International flight home. End of service.

Entry
A valid passport with at least six months validity is required for U.S. citizens. Tourist cards are provided on your international flight to Venezuela. Passengers assume all responsibility for obtaining valid passports.

Health
Malaria tablets and other inoculations are not required but may be advised by your doctor or local health clinic. Be sure to bring sunscreen and insect repellent. Drink plenty of bottled water to keep yourself hydrated. Note: health precautions are offered here as an informational service only. See your doctor or health clinic.

Language
Spanish. Guides speak "fishing English."

Weather
Daytime temperatures typically range from 80-100 during the day, but typically cool down to the 70s in the evening. Heavy tropical downpours can occur even during the "dry season" so be sure to pack a rainsuit. Humidity in the tropics can play havoc with cameras or other electronic devices.
