Day 1

Arrival to Bogota, Colombia.

Arrival to El Dorado airport in Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia at 2600 meters (8530.1837 feet) above sea level and which is quickly becoming one of the Latin American urban highlights with more than 7 million inhabitants. Check in at your hotel in the city located in the old historical district of La Candelaria surrounded by plenty of cafes, museums and churches.

Day 2

Bogota City Tour

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we’ll enjoy a City Tour beginning with a ride on the cable car to the peak of Cerro Monserrate at 3160 meters (10.367 feet) asl, from which you can get a great view of Bogotá and its surroundings. We will then walk trough the historical suburb of La Candelaria with its old churches and colonial style houses, its Plaza Bolivar and stunning Cathedral. We will also visit the Museo del Oro (The Gold Museum) and Fernando Botero’s permanent exhibition at the Banco de la República. Lunch on your own. Dinner at Restaurante Casa Brava overlooking the fascinating city of Bogotá. Overnight at your hotel in the old district of La Candelaria.

Day 3

Day tour to Zipaquira Salt Cathedral and Guatavita Lagoon.

Breakfast at the hotel. We will drive about 50 kms north of Bogota to the town of Zipaquira and visit a salt mine located 200meters (600 feet) below the surface to admire this impressive piece of Colombian architecture. We will also visit Zipaquira Salt Cathedral opened in 1954 to explore its tunnels and three main sections known as Station of the Cross, the Dome and Three Naves. After the visit, we will explore by foot the quaint town of Zipaquira with lunch included and continue to Guatavita Lagoon, a small lake surrounded by mountains which was once the Sacred place of the Muisca tribe, this location is also known for “El Dorado” legend suggesting that golden treasures are hidden underwater. We will also have time to purchase local crafts before getting back to Bogota at the end of the afternoon.

Day 4

Cañon del Rio Claro Nature Reserve

After breakfast, we will drive 5 hours west of Bogota to Cañon del Rio Claro Nature Reserve. Lunch at local restaurant and visit to the Guacharos cave and its caverns connected by a fresh stream. We will see and hear flocks of guácharos , a batlike nocturnal bird that lives in the darkness. Be ready to swim part of the way in the cold waters of the Bornego river. Overnight at standard lodge in the Nature reserve.

Day 5

Cañon del Rio Claro Nature Reserve

After breakfast we will enjoy the nature reserve at its best. We will have the opportunity to go rafting, canyoning, hiking or canopying in the Nature reserve. Lunch, dinner and overnight at standard lodge.

Day 6

Guatapé & El Peñol Rock

We will drive for 2.5 hours from Rio Claro Nature reserve to the towns of El Peñol and the lake town of Guatapé. We will walk upstairs 700 steps to the top of El Peñol rock, a gigantic volcanic eruption considered one of the world´s top ten wildest stairways with amazing views of the outskirts and the reservoir. After having lunch in Guatape (not included) drive to Medellin passing along beautiful towns and amazing scenarios of Antioquia with a few photo opportunities, souvenir stops and more. Overnight at standard hotel in the city of Medellin.

Day 7

Concordia Coffee & Jardín Overnight

After breakfast at the hotel we will drive approximately 2 hours through the lush green Medellín mountains surrounding the sustainable coffee plantations of Concordia. We will learn about the production cycle, starting with careful collection and selection of the finest beans including visiting the farm’s own roastery (the roastery in Jardín at Café de los Andes only roasts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and get impressed by the different roasting techniques plus the processing secrets that enable local families to deliver the best coffee from their plantations to your cup. We will also learn about Colombia’s Coffee history & Culture of Antioquia region.
After our coffee tour around Concordia, continue our way to Jardín where we would arrive mid to late afternoon and stay overnight.

Weather and time permitting, we would go birdwatching in the Jardin outskirts, where we will get to see the amazingly brightly colored Andean Cock of the Rock among other interesting bird species. Overnight at standard hotel in town.

Day 8

Horseback riding & Hiking to El Resplandor falls

After Breakfast we will join a horseback riding tour through different private farms with spectacular views of the mountains and hike in the rainforest down to Splendor Cave Waterfall for about 30 minutes. After a traditional lunch cooked on firewood at a small farm up in the mountains with a spectacular view of the valley below, we will return to Jardin and set off to return to Medellin. Overnight at standard hotel in the city.

Day 9

Medellin

Early Breakfast. Half a Day tour in Medellin visiting the Metrocable, a gondola built to help locals transport from the mountainside neighborhoods into the city with spectacular views of the city. We will also visit the Museum of Antioquia, which houses one of the largest collections of Fernando Botero paintings in the world. Discover the unique style of Fernando Botero, whose work is known for its unique manipulation of disproportion of body parts to accentuate volume and achieve protagonism. His exaggeration of human and animal figures is intended to inspire humor, irony and criticism. Lunch at local restaurant and Transfer to the airport. Flight to Cartagena in the afternoon. Airport pick up upon arrival and transfer to standard hotel in town.

Day 10

Cartagena & Corales del Rosario National Park.

Early breakfast at 645am. Transfer to the tourist dock of Cartagena. Boat trip to Corales del Rosario National Park, you can witness a stunning 27 small coral island archipelago with turquoise and blue waters. We will navigate through the Cartagena Bay passing between the Bateria de San José and Fuerte de San Fernando spanish forts. After that we will visit the Oceanarium Aquarium or snorkel for an hour and will go for a tasty lunch at Playa Blanca on Isla Barú. Boat ride back by 4pm to Cartagena’s dock and transfer to your hotel for overnight.

Day 11

Breakfast. Leisure days in Cartagena to explore its surroundings.

Day 12

Breakfast . Leisure day in Cartagena to explore its surroundings. Flight to Bogota at night Overnight.

Day 13

Breakfast . Leisure day in Cartagena to explore its surroundings. Flight to Bogota at night Overnight.
