Angel Falls & Roraima

Explore 2 of the most fascinating unknown places of South Eastern Venezuela in this challenging and unique combination during 13 days full of adventure, pristine rainforest, waterfalls, indigenous communities, trekking, river crossing, camping and so much more. Start in Canaima National Park visiting the Auyan Tepuy region as you reach Angel Falls located in its heart, get the classic picture with the tallest waterfalls of the world behind you and get amazed by the spectacular table top mountains & dense jungle around.
You will complete this experience with Roraima trek and get impressed by The Lost World in our 6 days trek (we can make it in 7 days too).
This itinerary allows you to visit the Eastern (Roraima) and Western Side (Angel Falls) of the Canaima National Park

Itinerary

Day 1- Canaima Lagoon

The Angel Falls are located deeply inside Canaima National Park. Your tour begins with a flight from Ciudad Bolívar or Puerto Ordaz to the Canaima Lagoon area, from which you can see a group of four different cascades known as Hacha, Wadaima, Ucaima and Golondrina. 

After a tasty lunch at a local indigenous village you will be taken across the lagoon and walk along the pink sand banks and up, through the jungle to the majestic Sapo Falls. From this point and on, you may swim in the lake before walking up through the jungle and behind the falls while enjoying a great scenery through a powerful water curtain. Dinner at the camp before going to sleep (beds) to the sound of crickets. Feel free to walk in the Pemon Community and get to know a bit more about the Pemon culture.

Day 2- Angel Falls

After breakfast, you will walk through the jungle before taking a motorized canoe up Carrao and Churún rivers towards the spectacular Angel falls. As you travel along the rivers for about 4 hours, you will have the time to take in the lush scenery and the fantastic Tepuys, you will enjoy a light picnic lunch afterwards. 

At Devil’s Canyon, you can see the Angel Falls cascading 1km down from the top of Auyántepuy and running all the way to Churún river. From here this point, you will walk up through the jungle for about an hour to the Laime viewpoint and then down to the rock pools near the base of the falls. If you get lucky, you may swim in the freshwater of Angel Falls. Have a good sleep in our comfortable hammocks front of the tallest fall in the world, if you have not experienced sleeping in hammocks, your tour guide will show how to get a perfect sleep as local Pemons do.

Day 3 Angel Falls- Puerto Ordaz

After breakfast and coffee at the camp you will travel back down the river to the first camp where you will eat lunch before taking a final flight over the jungle to Puerto Ordaz.
Depending on availability, you have the chance to get a flight over Angel Falls as optional.
Ask your tour guide in Canaima National Park about that, it usually departs with minimum of 4 passengers and the best experience is always in a Cessna 206.
At your arrival to Puerto Ordaz, our representative will meet you there and take you to a hotel by the airport. No dinner included.

Dia 4. Gran Sabana- Santa Elena de Uairen

Breakfast and 700 kms drive to Santa Elena de Uairén with a few stops along the way. After we cross the misty dense jungle road of Sierra de Lema find the stunning Gran Sabana located in the Eastern sector of Canaima National Park with views of the Tepuys Valley, Kama Falls and its inmense Savannahs. Dinner and overnight at rustic camp with beds and private bathroom.

Day 5- Parai Tepui – Tek River

We will drive from Santa Elena de Uairen to Parai Tepuy to hike nearly 14 hours and reach the first base camp located at 1050 meters above the sea level. Our guide and porters will set up the camp for a nice dinner in the foothill of Roraima. (5 hours hiking, all meals).

Day 6. Tek River-Roraima base camp

Today we will hike 9kms to the base camp of Roraima located at 1850 meters above the sea level. Enjoy spectacular views of the walls of the mountain and enjoy a refreshing swim in the river nearby the camp. (about 5 hours hiking, all meals).

Day 7- Roraima base camp to the top!

We will have a steep hike for about 3 hours (1,5 kms) through the jungle as we reach the top of The Lost World (2800 masl). Leisure afternoon to enjoy the fascinating views of the surroundings with its interesting rock shapes as result of 2 Billion years of erosion. Our following 2 nights will be in tents in one of the top cavities of Roraima.

Day 8- Roraima Top

We will explore the top and reach the Crystal Valley where we find strange and beautiful quartz rocks, we will also see the Gran Sabana and Kukenan Tepui window enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural jacuzzi with red, sand and golden colors on its waters. We will relax and get ready for the descend of 7 hours.

Day 9. Roraima Top- Tek River camp

Today we will hike down 10,5 kms for about 7 hours to Tek river enjoying some of the last views of the walls of Roraima.

Day 10- Tek River – Santa Elena de Uairen

We will walk about 4 hours to Parai Tepuy where will be collected to get driven back to Santa Elena. Dinner and overnight in a comfortable posada with bedrooms and private bathroom.

Day 11. Santa Elena de Uairen- Ciudad Bolivar

We depart early in the morning and drive all the way back to Puerto Ordaz.
Overnight at standard hotel in town, no dinner included.
